Make sure the Apple TV is on and your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, not to mobile data or a guest network. When Android asks to allow access to devices on your network, tap Allow. A VPN on the phone can also hide the TV: turn it off and try again.

After it shows the 4-digit code, the Apple TV waits only about 35 seconds. Type the code in Telik as soon as it appears. If the time runs out, tap Get a new code, and the TV shows a new one. If Telik says the code is wrong, enter the new code that the TV shows.

Tap the TV name at the top of the remote, then touch and hold the TV in the list and choose Forget this TV. Its pairing keys are deleted from your phone, and the TV stays in the list as Not paired. Tap it to pair again with a new code. Pairing and forgetting work only on an unlocked phone.

Telik changes the volume through your Apple TV, which passes it on to your TV or receiver over HDMI-CEC. Turn on HDMI-CEC on your TV or receiver and make sure your Apple TV controls the volume over it. If the volume can only be changed by infrared, the volume buttons and Mute in Telik won’t work. The Mute button appears only when the Apple TV reports that it can mute.

Telik keeps trying while the TV is off or on another network. Make sure the Apple TV is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi as your phone. If Telik says the TV is asleep, tap to wake it.

Swipe down from the top of the screen (twice on some phones) and look at the end of the tiles. If Telik isn’t there, tap the pencil (Edit) and drag Telik into the panel.

They appear while a video is playing, if the app on the TV supports them.

Apple can change how Apple TV talks to remotes in any tvOS update. Write to us with your tvOS version, and we will try to fix it in a new version of Telik.

Telik is tested with Apple TV 4K on the latest version of tvOS. Older models and older versions of tvOS have not been tested, so we can’t promise that they work.
